Somewhere along the way, pelvic pain stopped being treated as a medical problem and started being treated as a lifestyle one.

Which is how you end up with a list like this:

  • Have you tried yoga?
  • Have you tried losing a bit of weight?
  • Have you tried a hot bath?
  • Have you tried going on the pill?
  • Have you tried having a baby?
  • Are you sure it isn't just stress?
  • Everyone gets cramps.

Every single one of those is something for you to do. Something to change about yourself, your weight, your job, your stress levels, your plans for children.

Not one of them is a thing you are given.

4–12
years — the World Health Organization's estimate of how long an endometriosis diagnosis takes

Four years is a long time to be handed a list instead of an answer. Twelve is most of your twenties.

And whether you have a diagnosis, are still waiting on one, or have long since decided the whole process isn't worth another appointment — the Tuesday afternoon doesn't care. It still hurts, and you still have to get through it.

World Health Organization, Endometriosis fact sheet. Published reviews put the global average at roughly 6.6 years, with country averages ranging from 1.5 to 11.3 — the United States sits at the top of that range.

Let's be clear, because this is where these pages usually go wrong.

We are not going to tell you that a patch fixes this. It doesn't. Nothing costing $13.99 is going to fix this, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something worse than a patch.

This is not a treatment. It is not a replacement for a doctor who takes you seriously, and if you are still looking for one of those, please keep looking.

So we'll say what it actually is: heat, magnesium and arnica, in a form you can wear out of the house.

That's it. That's the whole claim.

The thing you already do

You already know heat works.

Nobody had to sell you on it. You worked it out yourself, probably as a teenager, long before anyone offered you a list. The hot water bottle. The bath. The heat pad with the cord that only reaches so far.

Heat is the one thing on the list that isn't advice. It's the thing you actually reach for.

It is also the only item on the list that nobody ever framed as your fault.

Heat works. It just never let you leave the house.

A hot water bottle is a commitment to a sofa. It goes cold, it needs refilling, it has to be held, and it means the evening is over.

But this doesn't only happen at home. It happens at 2pm in a meeting. On the train. In the supermarket. On day nine of a cycle that isn't supposed to be doing anything at all.

The problem was never that heat doesn't work.
It's that heat kept you under house arrest.

So the job was never to invent something. It was to make the thing you already use portable.

Iron powder that warms on its own against the skin. Magnesium, the same mineral in the Epsom salts you throw in the bath, through the skin rather than swallowed. Arnica, which has been in the ache aisle for a hundred years. Thin, matte and 9 inches across, so it sits under a waistband and nobody knows it's there.

We make three of these, and two of them are period patches. This is the one that isn't. Same warmth as our P.M., with one deliberate change: the P.M. has lavender in it to help you sleep, and this one has sweet orange instead.

Same heat. Nothing in it to make you drowsy. So you can put it on at 2pm on a Tuesday, in a week that has nothing to do with your period, and carry on with the day you were already having.

One thing we should say about this patch

It's the newest of the three, so it doesn't have a pile of reviews yet. The two it's built from do — 4.8 and 4.9 stars across 139 reviews. Same warming technology, same magnesium, same people making it. We'd rather tell you that than borrow their star rating and hope you don't check.

If it is your period

These two are built for exactly that — cooling for the day, warming for the night.

Quick answers

Will this help my endometriosis or PCOS?

We can't tell you that, and we won't. This is a drug-free warming patch for pain and cramps — it isn't a treatment for any condition, and it can't diagnose, cure or manage one. What people use it for is the same thing they use a hot water bottle for, on the days when they can't be at home with one. If you have a diagnosis, or think you might need one, that conversation belongs with your doctor.

How is this different from your P.M. Period Patch?

Same warming technology and the same magnesium. The P.M. contains lavender, which is there to help you wind down at night. This one has sweet orange instead, so there's nothing in it aimed at making you sleepy. It's the daytime version, and it isn't framed around a period.

Can I really wear it at work?

That's what it's for. It's thin, matte and flat, so it sits under a waistband without showing through. There's no cord, nothing to plug in, and nothing to refill or reheat.

Is it safe alongside my medication, the pill, or an IUD?

It's a drug-free topical patch and nothing in it is swallowed. That said, we're not in a position to advise on your specific situation — if you're on anything or you're pregnant, please check with your healthcare provider first.

What's actually in it?

Magnesium, sweet orange, arnica and iron powder. The iron powder is what generates the warmth when the patch meets the air. The full ingredient list is on the product page.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Then it doesn't, and we'd rather you found that out for $13.99 than after a long subscription. The one-time option above exists for exactly that reason, and subscriptions can be skipped or cancelled at any point without emailing anyone.
