"I've tried braces. I've tried physical therapy. Literally everything."

Now he tapes the knee before the set.

Travis Miller, drummer. On tour with Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan.

Filmed backstage at Vans Warped Tour, Long Beach.

The knee gave out in 2024.

He was jumping off a drum riser every single night. Touring does that — the same landing, the same joint, a hundred shows deep, and eventually something stops absorbing it.

What follows is the part every touring musician and every athlete knows by heart. You try the brace. You try the physio. You try the thing your friend swore by. Some of it helps a bit. None of it fits the actual problem, which is that you have to walk on stage in four hours regardless.

"This stuff saves my knee to where I can go on stage. I can perform. I can wear regular clothes, no one knows it's there, and I can do what I do best. Bring a lot of energy, have fun, and perform." — Travis Miller

That last part is the whole thing. Not rest it. Not sit this one out. Something you put on before the set that lets the set happen.

Support you can wear under your clothes.

A brace announces itself. It's bulky, it's visible, and it changes how you move — which is fine in a physio room and useless on a stage.

Kinesiology tape does the supporting job from the outside without any of that. Thin enough to disappear under jeans. Built to hold through sweat and a full performance.

Nobody in the crowd knows it's there. That's the point.

And on the way there

The other half of the bundle got there by accident.

Flying to Milwaukee for Summerfest, packing the bag that actually gets used. He put the headache patches in a story, and then had to keep answering questions about them.

Packing for Summerfest.

"I posted about these on my story and got a million questions. These are a must-have on flights. They have magnesium and chamomile. You just put them on your temples. They help with tension headaches, or they just help me relax. They also look cool. These are my new hack for flying." — Travis Miller

So we put the two together.

The tape that goes on before the set, and the patch that goes in the carry-on. What he actually uses, in one box.

Quick answers

How do I tape a knee?

Clean, dry skin with no lotion underneath. Anchor below the kneecap, run strips up either side, and stretch the middle of the strip rather than the ends. There's a full walkthrough in our taping guides.

Will it hold through a whole show?

It's designed to stay on for days, through sweat, showers and sleep. Apply it to clean dry skin and rub it in for a few seconds to activate the adhesive before you get moving.

Does it actually disappear under clothes?

It's thin synthetic silk rather than thick cotton. Under jeans or stage trousers there's no visible bulk — which is the reason Travis uses it instead of a brace.

Is it drug-free? I get tested.

Yes. Both products are drug-free, and the tape is Informed-Sport certified — the banned-substance testing standard used across professional sport.

Where do the headache patches go?

Temples, forehead, or the back of the neck. Twelve per box: eight cloud shape and four moon shape. Don't apply to broken or irritated skin.

Does this replace physical therapy?

No. It's drug-free support designed to sit alongside whatever your care team already has you doing, not instead of it. If a joint keeps giving out, get it looked at.
